Tuesdays is our weekly meeting and a great time to just drop in and check us out, There is also a lunch provided at minimal cost, find out what we are all about, and see if we are what you are looking for.
The Shed originally commenced its activities a several years ago at Mayfield in the basement area of the former BHP Admin Building but due to essential remediation site work the shed had to move. We were able to share premises with the Waratah/Mayfield Multicultural Men's Shed for a period until the need for a separate shed became necessary. For a time we were homeless, certain projects were completed with the aid of our "Shed on wheels Ute, " Membership numbers declined,
We then moved to the premises at 50 Clyde Street, Here we refurbished the area, new linings, ceiling, ground the floor and re coated, new wiring plus 3 phase and the installation of a dust extraction system. Numbers quickly grew again but when our lease renewal came up the owner decided the property was now worth much more and went to the open market and after the site was leased to a car Rental Agency we had to vacate our site given 1 months notice.
The Newcastle Men's Shed then moved all its operations into premises at 4 Tighe Street Newcastle West. These premises are a very generous offer from the McCloy Group for a 6 month period while we get established at the old Rail site off Kings Road New Lambton.
We have now moved to 99 Beaumont Street with access at rear in Murray or door access through the Westpac car park. These premises have been modified and fitted out for our use.
We have completed negotiations with Sydney Trains and have taken occupancy of a Rail property on a lane access from Kings Road Adamstown.
We have activated a Give Now option ( Top of Home page ) where anyone can donate to the shed so we can not only survive and be able to continue with our School student Mentoring, assistance to local groups, expanding activities in mens health and giving so many some where to come to be, relaxed, a cup of coffee/tea and have no pressure , be able to talk with others who have gone through the same problems in life and have a support group who is there for you without having any judgement.
Along with our Regular Blood Pressure Testing we are adding to our Shed’s focus on Helping our members with the health issues that effect our every day life, and being able to take it to the wider community is only a plus.
